Porter, Helen Fogwill

Helen Fogwill Porter was born and grew up in St. John's, Newfoundland, where she still lives. She is a writer of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, humour, drama, and criticism.

Helen Fogwill Porter's published books include Below the Bridge (Breakwater Books 1980), January, February, June or July (Breakwater Books 1988) and A Long and Lonely Ride (Breakwater Books 1991). January, February, June or July was shortlisted for the W. H. Smith/Books in Canada First Novel Award in 1989 and won the Young Adult Canadian Book Award, presented by the Canadian Library Association. Helen Fogwill Porter's second novel, Finishing School was published in 2007.
