Collins, Michael

Michael Collins is a native of Southeast Placentia, Newfoundland. His first workshops were in Bond's Path woods, where he and his brother would create elaborate stories while waiting for Mom to call them in for dinner. Now that he is older, a few of his pieces have appeared here and there, and of late he has been writing regularly for The Scope.

Michael has read his poems at the Cape St Mary's Performance Series, the Sean Dunne Poetry Festival, and various cultural events in Placentia and St. John's. He is the recent recipient of the Lawrence Jackson Memorial Award, for a book-length piece of "geographical philosophy".
